Mykka Dockery

What grade and subject do you teach?    I teach Kindergarten.

 Family – I am a very lucky woman! I have a wonderful husband, his name is Jared.  Jared was my high school sweet heart!  We have also been blessed with 3 beautiful children.  We have two daughters, Averi and Abi. Averi and Abi go to school in Olton.  Averi is in the 6^th grade, and Abi is in the 4^th grade.  I also have a little boy who is 3, and his name is Ayden.  I love my family very much! 

 Where were you born and where did you grow up?   

I was born in Lubbock Texas.  I grew up in Levelland, TX although; I graduated from Whitharral High School. 

Where did you attend college?   I began my college journey at South Plains College, and then transferred to Wayland Baptist University. I graduated from Wayland Baptist University in 2011.

How long have you been teaching?   This is my first year as a full time teacher!  I have in the past been a teaching assistant, assistant librarian, and substitute teacher.  I did this for 6 years before deciding to become a full time teacher.

How long have you been teaching in Olton? This is my first year as a teacher in Olton.

Have you always been a teacher, if not what did you do before teaching?    I was a stay at home mom before I became a teacher.  I loved every minute of getting to stay home and watch my children grow! 

What are your hobbies?  I love to read!  I read lots of books, although for a Christmas present I received a Nook.   I love my Nook, because I don’t have to have a special place to keep all of the books I read at home. 

 What is your favorite way to relax?   I think my most favorite way to relax, is by spending a day at home with my family.  I love nothing better than to have a family movie day.  We pop some popcorn, get in our most comfortable pajamas and watch a family movie. 

Is there anything else you would like to tell us about yourself - I am really excited to be in Olton.  This is a wonderful community with lots of wonderful people!
