Tell us about your family -I have twins sons age 40 named Jamie & Manuel; another son, Christopher, age 30. I have 3 daughters-in-law, Cindy, Velma, and Sameera; 2 granddaughters and 2 grandsons.   My husband’s name is Manuel Perez. Jamie works for Amarillo ISD, Cindy works for Wayland Baptist University Amarillo branch, Velma works for West Texas A & M University, Manuel works for Plains Capital Bank, Christopher works & teaches at Amarillo College, & Sameera attends college at AC.

Where were you born and where did you grow up?I was born in Seguin, Texas and grew up in Iraan, Texas.

Where did you attend college? Wayland Baptist University in Plainview.

How long have you been teaching? 15 years

How long have you been teaching in Olton? 15years

Have you always been a teacher, if not what did you do before teaching? Before teaching I was a paraprofessional for 4 years & before that worked for St. Peters 11 years.

What are your hobbies? Decorating my house & spending time with my grandkids.

What is your favorite way to relax? Watch chick-flick movies & Long baths

Is there anything else you would like to tell us about yourself -My husband had a stroke 3 years ago & my job has been a life-saver. My husband is now a resident of Runningwater Draw Care Center and I spend many hours by myself and have a lot more time to spend with my grandkids. I am always thinking of ways to improve as a teacher. I try to focus on ways to challenge all my students. I honestly can say I use parenting skills I used at home on my children and always look for different methods that might work. I love to teach and always pray for a better year and pray for each child in my class & hope they too will have an enjoyable, challenging year.
